Me and My Pops

Not too long ago, Zoe started calling her Dad "Pops".  I'm not particularly fond of this name, but her Dad thinks it is super cool.  (I guess I can't complain really.  I've called my Mom the nickname Fred ever since I was in high school.) Here are the two of them together on the morning of March 13th which was Donuts with Dad at her school.  She was really excited about getting to show off her Pops.

Go, Move, Shift

Zoe's recent visit to the Irish Festival in Dallas has really sparked some changes in our life.  She was mesmerised by the music that she heard there.  There was one band in particular that grabbed her attention.  It was the band Shift.  Her favorite song is now Go, Move, Shift.

She was so excited over them that she went to see them a little over a week later at Lochrann's Irish Pub on St. Patrick's Day (imagine having to call the bar and ask if your 4 year old will be allowed in on St. Patrick's Day)  My Mom (Grannie) took Zoe to see them.  She sat right in front of the stage and did not move the entire time.  She even went up afterwards to meet the band and buy a CD.  The child is in love!!!

Now to the biggest shift in our lives.  Zoe has decided that she wants to learn to play the fiddle after being inspired by all of this Irish music.  Her Papaw bought her not one, but two violins (both of which ended up being too big for her). On Saturday morning, she attended her very first violin lesson with the orchestra teacher from my school.  Right after her lesson we went to the violin shop, which was a lot like Ollivander's wand shop in the Harry Potter Movies.  There were violins hanging on hooks and in cubbies, and the guy kept trying them on for size.  It was really surreal.  She ended up with 1/10 size violin.  We came home and she did everything her teacher asked her to do for the week before it was dark outside.  She is truly excited about this.

I guess we have a budding musician on our hands....We shall see how long it lasts :)

"Umm...I have a situation back here"

A recent trip to the toy store, evoked these words from the backseat, "Umm...I have a situation back here."  It was Grannie's birthday, but Zoe got the toy (this is the way it goes when Grannie is involved)!  This cute little Ice Cream Cone Shooter.   Ours is green.  You push the button on the side of the cone and the foam ice cream scoop shoots straight up in the air.  The scoop is attached to a string so that you can easily keep up with it when it is shot.  That being said, Zoe was in the back seat of the car playing with the shooter when the string conveniently wrapped itself around the barrette in her hair.  She very calmly let us know there was a situation before she began screaming her head off....She was trying to be brave anyway :) too cute!

"Awwwww Man!!!"

Those are the words I heard this morning. Every Monday and Thursday is required uniform day at Tutu's school. It means that she has to wear what I affectionately call her "monkey suit" (a jumper, sailor style button up white shirt, shorts, and tie). On those mornings we can be sure that she will not be happy about what she has to wear to school, and if we are lucky we are even given this awesome hands on the hips, bottom lip poked way out scowl. It is too funny! She really HATES wearing this. We all have those things that makes us go "Awwww Man!" and this is hers.

This blog is all about Zoe! She is my fabulous 4 year old daughter. This is a picture of her on her second day of school. Don't let the cute smile fool you. She is always getting into something and this is where you can learn about what she has been up to lately. The stories here will be told through the eyes of me, her mother. Hope you enjoy them!
